Several owners of medical centres authorised by the Gulf Health Council (GHC) have alleged that unauthorised centres in Bangladesh are issuing fake health certificates in violation of official guidelines. The accusation came during a press conference held Thursday morning at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
Mezbah Uddin Saeed, coordinator of the authorised medical center owners, claimed that these unauthorised centers are not following GHC protocols and are exploiting outbound workers by issuing fake certificates.
He stated that such fraudulent activities are not only unethical but also violate both GHC regulations and the laws of Bangladesh. The speakers also noted that these unauthorised centers are charging two to four times the standard medical fees set by the council.
According to the authorised center owners, many individuals who receive fake certificates are later found medically unfit when retested abroad, resulting in the loss of jobs and forced returns, ultimately tarnishing the country’s reputation. In some cases, these practices have even jeopardised visa issuance from several countries.
The owners urged the government to formally notify Saudi authorities about how some individuals are bypassing medical protocols and receiving fake certifications, posing potential health risks to host countries.
In conclusion, they called on the concerned authorities to shut down unauthorised medical centers and take strict legal action against those involved in such unethical practices.
The press conference was attended by Mezbah Uddin Saeed and several other representatives from GHC-approved medical centers.
