An unauthorised drone was detected and seized from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred at 8:37pm in front of the VIP Pole Gate while the drone was being used to film the arrival of SAFF Championship players.
The seized device has been identified as a DJI Mavic 4 Pro model.
According to preliminary investigations, the drone was being operated without prior permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), which constitutes a violation of existing regulations.
Under the “Drone Registration and Flying Policy 2020”, airport precincts are classified as ‘Red Zones’. The operation of drones in such sensitive areas is strictly prohibited without special authorisation from the relevant authorities.
Authorities stated that necessary legal action will be taken against such unauthorised activities to ensure the overall security of the airport.
A special request has been issued to the public to strictly follow relevant rules and regulations regarding the use of drones in airports and other sensitive areas in the future.
