UN envoy, IGP talk human rights and forensics

Dr. Morris Tidball-Binz, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions, paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on Tuesday morning at the Police Headquarters in Dhaka.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters related to forensic laboratories, autopsies, and the broader context of law enforcement practices.

According to a press release issued by the Police Headquarters, the IGP emphasised that the Bangladesh Police gives utmost priority to human rights in enforcing the law.

Present at the meeting were Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, CID Additional IGP Md. Chibghat Ullah, DIG (Confidential) Md. Kamrul Ahsan, and Additional DIG (Special Crime Management and NRB Affairs) Md. Ashiq Said.
