University of Asia Pacific’s (UAP) School of Business, University of Dhaka’s (DU), Faculty of Business Studies, and Weiden Business School and Institute of Psychological & Behavioral Science, Germany, have jointly organised the International Conference on Business and Technology (ICBT) 2025.

The two-day conference is being held from September 20 at UAP to September 21 at DU, under the theme “The Vital Interplay between Business and Technology in Achieving Sustainable Development.”

The conference brings together around 250 participants from across the globe to present over 100 research papers and engage in thought-provoking discussions on how businesses and technological innovations can synergise to address pressing economic, environmental, and social challenges. The programme also features 10 distinguished keynote speakers from abroad, interactive sessions, and panel discussions to foster collaboration among academicians, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.

The inaugural ceremony of ICBT 2025 was held today at the UAP Auditorium in Dhaka. Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud, adviser for Planning to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, Dr Mahmud stressed the importance of research, innovation, and global collaboration, stating: “Conferences like the ICBT provide an essential platform for academics, professionals, and policymakers to converge and contribute to the nation’s sustainable development agenda.”

Special guests included Chairperson of the UAP Board of Trustees Architect Mahbuba Haque, Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific Professor Dr Qumrul Ahsan, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Dhaka Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed.

Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed highlighted the value of institutional collaboration to tackle socio-economic challenges. Architect Mahbuba Haque reaffirmed UAP’s commitment to fostering excellence, innovation, and global engagement. Professor Dr Qumrul Ahsan emphasised UAP’s mission to advance higher education and research through international partnerships.

The opening remarks were delivered by Professor Dr MA Baqui Khalily (UAP), Dr Christiane Hellbach (OTH Amberg-Weiden), and Professor Dr Mahmood Osman Imam (University of Dhaka) as Conference Chairs.

The keynote address was presented by Professor Dr SR Osmani of Ulster University, United Kingdom, who shared insightful perspectives on the convergence of business, technology, and sustainable development.

The session concluded with the presentation of commemorative crests to the honored guests. Mr Sarwar Razzaq Chowdhury, head of the Department of Business Administration at UAP, delivered the vote of thanks, marking a successful start to the international conference.
