The United Arab Emirates has made significant strides in resuming visa issuance for Bangladeshi nationals following sustained diplomatic engagement between the two countries, officials said on Sunday.
In a key development, the UAE Embassy in Dhaka has begun issuing between 30 to 50 visit visas per day, while bulk visa processing for business delegations has also been accelerated. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources has simultaneously reactivated its online platform for processing skilled employment visas.
The updates came during a meeting between UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulla Ali AlHmoudi and Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi in Dhaka. They discussed a range of bilateral issues, including labour mobility and economic cooperation.
Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the developments, adding that the UAE has issued hundreds of visas in recent weeks for hotel staff and security personnel—indicating a broader easing of entry restrictions for Bangladeshi workers.
The ambassador commended Siddiqi’s active diplomatic outreach, which has included several ministerial-level meetings over the past months. He also assured the UAE’s continued consideration of humanitarian and compassionate visa cases raised by Bangladesh.
In a further sign of deepening ties, a high-level UAE cabinet delegation is scheduled to visit Bangladesh later this month to advance cooperation across multiple sectors. Both sides have also begun formal negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with terms of reference already agreed upon.
Officials say the recent developments signal renewed momentum in bilateral relations and enhanced opportunities for Bangladeshi workers and investors in the Gulf nation.
