Two stolen cows recovered in Barolekha.

Police in Barlekha upazila of Moulvibazar have recovered two stolen cows and arrested three members of a cattle theft ring in a special drive.

According to police sources, on August 31, unidentified thieves stole two cows worth around Tk 1.2 lakh from the cowshed of Yakub Ali in Dakshinbhag village of Barlekha. Following the incident, the victim lodged a complaint with Barlekha Police Station.

During investigation, a team led by Barlekha Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation) Habibur Rahman, along with SI Ratan Kumar Halder and SI Debal Chandra Sarkar, first arrested 28-year-old Milon Ahmed from Dohalia village in Barlekha.

Based on information gleaned during interrogation, police later conducted a raid in Belagaon area of Juri upazila and arrested two others Shahid Mia, 60, and Hanif Mia, 55. From their possession, police recovered the stolen cattle a black cow and a red cow.

Confirming the matter, Barlekha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Molla said,

“We have successfully identified and arrested three individuals involved in the cattle theft. The recovered cows will be handed over to the rightful owner as per court directives. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and the arrestees have been sent to court.”
