Two siblings died and three others injured after a bus hit their CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Shahjahanpur Upazila of Bogura district on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Md Akash, 25, and Md Arif, 21, sons of Hazrat Ali of Bonmoricha village of Sherpur Upazila in the same district.
The injured — maternal uncles of the deceased Haidar Ali, Abdul Aziz and another person named Polash – are now under treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shajahanpur Police Station, confirming the incident, said the accident occurred when Sherpur-bound auto-rickshaw from Bogura reached in front of the Proyash School and a bus coming from the opposite direction hit it near Dhaka-Rangpur highway at 12:20am.
The auto-rickshaw passenger Akash died on the spot and four others severely injured.
On information, the fire service officials reached to the spot and took the injured to the hospital where Arif succumbed to his injuries. The damaged auto-rickshaw was taken to custody at the Sherpur camp by the highway police, the OC said.
