Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan is making a four-day official visit to Dhaka on August 21. Besides, the neighbouring country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is visiting Dhaka on August 23.

According to sources, Dar’s official visit to Bangladesh was confirmed first. Later, Pakistan announced that its Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan will also visit Dhaka to discuss improving bilateral trade between the nations.

There are rumours that after both these Pakistani ministers conclude their official Dhaka trip, the country’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will also pay a visit. Sources say discussions are ongoing between the neighbouring countries centering Aurangzeb’s possible visit.

After arriving in Dhaka on August 23, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will meet Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain the next day. This is the first time a Pakistani foreign minister is visiting Dhaka since 2012.

Back on April 16, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch visited Bangladesh for a secretary-level bilateral meeting.

In 2012, the then Pakistani foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar visited Dhaka. She was here in Bangladesh to invite the then prime minister Sheikh Hasina to the D-8 summit in Pakistan.
