Two individuals were stabbed to death in separate incidents in the capital on Sunday night.
The first victim was Md Sifat, 18, from Mirpur Section-11. According to his father, Sifat was a student at a local school in Mirpur-12 and sat for the SSC examinations this year.
Around 10:50pm, Sifat was stabbed during an altercation with a friend over a dispute in the Mirpur-11 area. His friends initially took him to Islami Bank Hospital, and he was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 11:10pm. He succumbed to his injuries at 11:45pm while receiving treatment at the emergency unit according to Inspector Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost.
In a separate incident, a man named Rocky, 31, was brought to DMCH with stab wounds by another individual.
According to police, Rocky had a dispute with a rickshaw-puller over fare at Matbor Bazar. At around 12:15am, an unidentified associate of the rickshaw-puller attacked Rocky with a sharp weapon, inflicting serious injuries to his left arm and back.
Rocky was pronounced dead at 12:50am while undergoing treatment at DMCH.
