Two die of Covid in 24 hours

Two people died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, while 25 new infections were recorded during the same period.

The two diseased—one male and another female– were from Dhaka and Chattogram Division, according to a press statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.

This is the sixth Covid-related death reported this year.

After a long gap, a coronavirus fatality was reported on June 5 this year.

With the latest fatalities and cases, the country’s recorded death toll from the disease since March 18, 2020, stands at 29,502 and cases at 20,51800.

The total confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country now stand at 2,051,858, while the death toll has reached 29,504 since the beginning of the pandemic.

A total of 231 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. The daily positivity rate stood at 10.82 percent, while the overall positivity rate is 13.05 percent. So far, 15,727,455 tests have been conducted in the country.

The current recovery rate is 98.42 percent, and the fatality rate is 1.44 percent.

Bangladesh reported its first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 that same year. The previous Covid-related death was reported on July 26, 2024.
