The Asian Project Market (APM) 2025 has announced its official lineup of 30 projects from 15 countries, capturing regional voices and creative diversity.
Among the extensive list of selected films, Bangladeshi movies The Magical Men, directed by Biplob Sarkar — co-produced with Singapore, France and India — and Silence of the Looms, directed by Shobnom Ferdousy and Rajib Mohajan made the cut.
Shabnam Ferdousi told the Times of Bangladesh, “This is a matter of great pride for us. Our film will be made about Bangladesh’s traditional muslin. We will begin shooting in various parts of the country starting this November.”
On the other hand, Biplob Sarkar said that the shooting of his film will likely begin toward the end of next year. He didn’t want to reveal anything about the story before going into production.
As the largest co-production and financing platform in Asia, APM plays a vital role in discovering fresh, emerging talent and connecting them with global investors, producers and distributors, while fostering an ecosystem for pragmatic co-production and investment cooperation.
The official selections tackle a broad range of themes, including social inequality, family love, LGBTQ+ issues, gender, war and borders, through diverse genres and deeply resonant narratives that highlight regional distinctiveness.
The selected projects will meet with industry professionals during ACFM 2025, September 20 to 23, to connect them.
Moreover, they will also be nominated across various sponsor-supported award categories, with winners to be announced at the APM Awards Ceremony on September 23.
