In a never ending show of defiance, President Donald Trump continues to show his ….finger to the long held international norms and nicety in doing politics. His facial expression and body language while in the company of foreign dignitaries translate to ‘I am the US President Donald Trump and you better bow before me.’ He is just as arrogant and as undiplomatic as the late Idi Amin of Uganda. They both suffered from megalomania mixed with a dash of paranoia. Both foul-mouthed their opponents for no reason at all and have great faith in their own art of devilry. While Idi Amin hated the whites, Trump hated the immigrants.
His erratic, knee-jerk reactions and subsequent actions during a crisis reminds one of the medical reports of a group of psychiatrists on his labyrinthine mental map. His shenanigans have rattled his friends and foes equally hard, sending ominous signals as to the outcome of an interaction with him. Some months back he lambasted Ukraine’s President Zelensky and literally threw him out of White House without even offering him lunch.
Lately, his fingers have been itching to push the war button, this time a real war and not in a video game. So, off he goes and pushes the button to launch the B-2 bomber to fly all the way to Iran and drop a bunker-buster bomb there. What a spectacle! He was excited by the great show of pomp and grandeur as his planes flew in formation towards Iran. The bomb hit somewhere and created a large hole on the ground. It was shown on TV as being the nuclear site and narrated that it completely finished off Iran. But Iran retaliated by sending missiles on US bases in Qatar and Iraq. When attacked, Trump immediately started to chalk out a plan for calling it quits by all parties. Clownish though, yet street level clever, Trump knew Americans do not like to see their own men and women die in another country’s war, so he quickly pursued the two warring nations to accept his ceasefire call. Netanyahu immediately agreed but Iran hesitated for a while and only agreed after sending some more missiles towards Israel. And thus ended the 12- day-long video game.
Meanwhile, in the clamor of missiles and rockets and bunker-busters, Trump’s appeal to mankind for a Nobel Peace Prize was not heard with due seriousness. He claimed he deserved not only one but 5 Nobel prizes. Didn’t he negotiate a ceasefire between Pakistan and India following the short-lived war? And now the one between Iran and Israel? And didn’t he scold Zelenesky?
Let us organize a street demonstration and a rally for Trump’s Nobel Prize.
