Donald Trump has denied being “solely responsible” for CBS canceling ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’, though he did not hold back from mocking the host.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Everybody is saying that I was solely responsible for the firing of Stephen Colbert from CBS, ‘Late Night.’ That is not true!” He claimed Colbert was let go due to a “pure lack of talent” and because his show was losing CBS $50 million a year. “And it was only going to get WORSE!” Trump added.

He then took aim at other late-night hosts, writing, “Next up will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel, and then, a weak and very insecure, Jimmy Fallon. The only real question is, who will go first?”

Trump argued that success in television comes down to ratings. “If you get Ratings, you can say or do anything. If you don’t, you always become a victim. Colbert became a victim to himself, the other two will follow.”

While Trump did not mention Late Night with Seth Meyers, Meyers recently commented on the uncertainty of his show’s future, saying it’s “outside of my control” and that the late-night landscape itself may be unsustainable.
