Former US President Donald Trump called Russian President Vladimir Putin “absolutely crazy” after Russia launched its largest air attack on Ukraine, firing 367 drones and missiles in one night, killing at least 12 people, reports BBC.
Speaking in New Jersey, Trump said, “What the hell happened to him? He’s killing a lot of people,” and hinted at possible new US sanctions on Russia, saying he’s “not happy” with Putin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Washington’s silence, saying it encourages Putin and called for stronger pressure and sanctions.
Trump also criticized Zelensky, saying his comments “cause problems” and “better stop.”
Despite growing European support for Ukraine, the US says it will either continue peace talks or walk away if no progress is made. Trump and Putin spoke by phone last week about a U.S.-backed ceasefire plan. Ukraine agreed to a 30-day truce, but Russia has so far only agreed to discuss a possible future peace, which Kyiv sees as a stalling tactic.
Russia still occupies about 20% of Ukraine, including Crimea.
