A Dhaka court on Monday imposed a travel ban on former lawmaker Mashiur Rahman Ranga, his son Rafat Rahman, daughter Maliha Tasnim Jui and daughter-in-law Shakila Khanom Kakon over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said Ranga, also the former state minister for LGRD and his family members committed crimes under the ACC Act, including amassing illegal wealth and money laundering.

According to the ACC, it is currently probing the allegations. It has been further learned that the former lawmaker and his family members have illegal properties in different parts of the country, including Rangpur and Dhaka.

“They are trying to hand over or transfer the properties to others’ names as they may try to escape the country. So, travel ban should be imposed on them immediately,” the ACC plea added.
