In the wake of last season’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) chaos over ticket sales, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken steps to avoid further disorder by shifting entirely to online ticketing for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan.

The three-match series will take place at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on 20, 22 and 24 July. Tickets will be available exclusively through BCB’s official platform, www.gobcbticket.com.bd, with sales beginning on 15 July.

During a press conference at Mirpur on Sunday afternoon, BCB Director and Chairman of the Grounds Committee, Mahbub Anam, confirmed the decision. He pointed to past incidents as the driving force behind this change.

Earlier this year, demand for BPL tickets reached a boiling point. On the day before the tournament began, fans gathered in front of the BCB headquarters demanding tickets. The situation escalated further during the event when some supporters, angered by the lack of availability, vandalised the stadium’s gates and even set fire to a ticket booth.

In response, the BCB has opted for a fully digital approach. Fans must register on the ticketing platform, either via the website or app, and will be able to purchase a maximum of four tickets each. Once payment is completed, an e-ticket will be issued. Supporters can either present it digitally or print it out and show it at the gate to enter the stadium.

Around 70 percent of the tickets will be made available to the general public. In addition, the BCB will once again honour those injured during the “July ticket movement” by allocating over 100 free tickets in a designated section called Block Thirty Six.

Ticket prices have also been revealed. The lowest-priced seats, in the East Gallery, will cost BDT 300. Tickets for the Shaheed Abu Sayeed Stand and the Northern Gallery will cost BDT 400. The Club House category, which includes the Shaheed Jewel and Shaheed Mushtaq Stands, will be available at BDT 800. For a seat in the International Gallery (North or South), fans will have to pay BDT 1500. The Grand Stand, located next to the dressing rooms, will cost BDT 2500, while the highest category, the International Lounge, has been priced at BDT 3500.

All tickets for the series will be sold online. However, if any remain unsold, they will be made available at designated booths on the day of the matches. The BCB has not yet announced the booth locations, advising fans to stay updated through its digital platforms.

Pakistan are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on 16 July ahead of the three-match series.
