Three technicians sustained burn injuries following an air conditioner explosion while carrying out maintenance work at Ramna Engineering Institute in the capital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
The injured individuals have been identified as Mamun, 30, Rosul, 30, and Ratan Chandra, 32.
According to witnesses and colleagues of the victims, the technicians were repairing an AC unit on the roof of the institute’s hall room.
The explosion reportedly occurred due to a technical fault in the AC’s pressure pipe, leaving all three men with severe burns.
They were immediately rescued and rushed to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for emergency treatment.
Shawon Bin Rahman, a resident surgeon at the burn institute, confirmed the details of their injuries.
He stated that Mamun is in a serious condition, having suffered burns to 35 percent of his body, and has been admitted to the hospital for intensive care.
The other two technicians, Rosul and Ratan, sustained burns to 6 percent and 7 percent of their bodies, respectively. Both were released after receiving primary treatment.
