Three killed in separate road accidents in Dinajpur

Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Dinajpur district between late Monday night and Tuesday morning.

In the first incident, two motorcyclists died after being hit by a truck in Fulbari upazila.

The accident occurred around 6:30am on Tuesday at Dangapara in Razarampur, Shibnagar, along the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway.

According to Sub-Inspector Faridul Islam of Fulbari Police Station, the victims were identified as Abdul Motaleb (27), the rider, son of Abdur Razzak from Joyrampur village in Kaharole upazila, and Saju Islam (33), a passenger, son of Anarul Islam from Jagannathpur village of the same upazila.

Motaleb used to work as a motorcycle ride-sharing driver in Dhaka. The two were reportedly en route to Dhaka by motorcycle when the collision occurred.

In a separate incident, late Monday night, another fatal accident occurred in Bajitpur area of Bhaturia, Nawabganj upazila, also on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway. A stationary truck was hit from behind by another moving truck, killing the driver of the second vehicle on the spot.

Sub-Inspector Golam Mostofa of Nawabganj Police Station reported that road construction work on a nearby bridge had closed one side of the road, forcing vehicles to pass through a narrow lane. The fatal crash occurred when a moving truck rear-ended a parked one along this narrow path.

The deceased was identified as Al-Amin Alam, son of Haidar Ali from Chondipur Pathanpara village in Parbatipur upazila.

Police are investigating both accidents, and the bodies have been sent for autopsy.
