Three people, including a father and his young son, were killed in a road accident in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Monday morning. The accident occurred around 8 am on the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar highway in the Jetty Road area of Rashidnagar Union.
The deceased have been identified as Habib Ullah, (55) and his son Riad, a minor, from South Patali in PM Khali of Cox’s Bazar Sadar, and Rimjim Barua, (23), daughter of Himangshu Barua from East Rajarkul in Ramu.
Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tayebur Rahman confirmed the deaths. According to police and local sources, a collision occurred between a Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van and a Chattogram-bound Purabi passenger bus. The impact caused the bus to overturn and fall into a roadside paddy field. Police rushed to the spot after receiving the report, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital.
OC Tayebur Rahman stated that legal proceedings are underway and further details will be provided later.
