Three people were killed in two separate incidents in Khulna in the last 24 hours till Friday.
Among the deceased two youths were shot dead and another one was injured in an attack by armed assailants in Rupsha upazila of Khulna on Thursday night.
The two victims were identified as Sabbir, son of Fazlul Haque of Sheikhpara area and Saddam Hossain, son of Nur Islam from Sonar Bangla Road under Sonadanga Police Station. The injured, Miraj is locally known as ‘Kaua Miraj’.
According to the locals and police, the gunfire incident took place at the residence of a man named Sohag, who is known to be a drug dealer in the city, at around 9pm at Rajapur village.
Locals reported that hearing the gunshots they rushed the spot and found the body of Sabbir inside the house and informed the law enforcers.
Another victim Saddam was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition and later transferred to Dhaka, but succumbed to his injuries on the way, while the injured Miraj reportedly fled from the hospital after initial treatment.
Police said all three victims are associates of ‘Grenade Babu’, a notorious crime figure in Khulna region. Multiple criminal cases are pending against them, according to police sources.

Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rupsha Police Station, confirmed that the victims were staying at Sohag’s house when five to seven armed attackers stormed there.
“Sabbir was shot in the head, with the bullet exiting through one of his eyes. Saddam was also shot in the back of the head,” said Rahman.
Police recovered six bullet casings, four live rounds, Yaba tablets and an object resembling a grenade from the crime scene. The body of Sabbir was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the official said.
Meanwhile in another incident, a businessman named Bablu Dutta (50) was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants. The murder took place at Rajbandh an area under Harintana upazila. The victim Bablu Dutta used to live in south area in Rajbandh.
OC of Harintana Police Station confirmed that Bablu was a local sand trader. He was stabbed multiple times by the assailants. Police are conducting drives to arrest the assailants of the two incidents.
