Three killed, 15 injured in Magura road crash

Three people were killed and at least 15 others injured when a bus crashed into a battery-run van on the Magura-Jhenaidah Highway in Magura Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased include the van driver, Sagor, 30, son of Awal Mollah of Gouricharanpur village, and Resham Khatun, 35, wife of Anisur Rahman from Doramtona village in the same upazila.

According to police, the accident occurred in the Ramnagar area when a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Golden Line Paribahan’ from Meherpur hit the oncoming van, leaving the driver dead on the spot and several others critically injured.

Following the crash, the bus veered off the road and fell into a roadside ditch.

Sub-inspector Mahabub Hossain of Ramnagar Highway Police Station said fire service personnel, assisted by locals, rescued the injured and sent them to Magura and Jhenaidah Sadar hospitals for treatment.

Among the injured are Tania, 20, Sohag, 27, Samsul, 34, and Samiha, 30, who are currently receiving treatment at the hospitals.

Two of the injured later died while undergoing treatment, the SI confirmed.
