Three people, including a mother and daughter from the same family, died after being electrocuted in Bandarban’s Chimbuk area early Sunday. The incident occurred around 2am at Ranglai Mro Headman Para.
According to local headman and former Union Parishad chairman Ranglai Mro, a transformer exploded at around 2am, igniting a nearby power line. While attempting to extinguish the fire, Rowleng Mro, 36, and her daughter Tumle Mro, 17, were electrocuted. Urkan Mro, 71, a neighbour, was also electrocuted while trying to save them.
He was rushed to the district hospital but died shortly after arrival.
Officer-in-Charge of Bandarban Sadar Police Station Masud Parvez confirmed the incident, saying police were sent to the scene to recover the bodies of the mother and daughter. He added that one of the victims, believed to be alive, died en route to the hospital.
