Three individuals were detained, and six dredgers were seized during a joint operation against illegal sand extraction in the Arial Khan River in Faridpur district on Saturday night.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhanga Police Station, Ashraf Hossain, said the operation was launched based on information about illegal sand dredging in Bhanga and Sadar upazilas. The drive, led by Executive Magistrate Fazle Rabbi, began at 11:30 pm and continued until 6 am.
During the raid, six dredgers were seized and three people were taken into custody. The detainees were later handed over to the police.
Legal action will be taken against the individuals involved, the OC confirmed.
