Fans attending Prime Video’s Gen V panel at San Diego Comic-Con got an unexpected treat on Friday when a surprise sneak peek at The Boys Season 5 was unveiled.

The exclusive footage, shown in the iconic Hall H, drew explosive reactions from the crowd. It marked the first official glimpse at what is to come in the series’ concluding season. Among the highlights: Homelander (Antony Starr), now firmly in charge of the country, declares his regime will usher in a “safer, God-fearing nation.”

The teaser also thrilled fans with a brief appearance by Jared Padalecki, who joins the cast in a much-anticipated reunion with Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy). While Misha Collins is also set to appear, he didn’t show up in the footage.

True to the show’s tone, the sizzle reel packed in plenty of violence, gore and brutal action. It ended on a cryptic shot of Colby Minifie’s Ashley Barrett, who flashes a sly smile that gradually shifts into an expression of shock and dread, though what she was reacting to remains a mystery.

During the panel, the Gen V team confirmed that Season 2 will feature a more extensive crossover with The Boys than ever before, with major narrative consequences as the flagship series nears its conclusion. The Boys Season 5 does not have a confirmed release date yet but is expected to arrive in 2026.

The expanding Boys Universe continues to grow, with Prime Video also developing The Boys Presents: Diabolical (animated), the ’50s-era prequel Vought Rising, and The Boys: Mexico, executive produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal and written by Blue Beetle’s Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.

Meanwhile, Gen V Season 2 is set to premiere on September 17.
