Terrorist Kangchai Marma killed during Khagrachhari army raid: ISPR

Kangchai Marma – a top terrorist operating in Khagrachhari – has been killed in a Bangladesh Army raid. During the drive, another terrorist named Ismail Hossain was apprehended.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the matter in a press release issued on Friday.

On a tip off, Bangladesh Army’s Sindukchhari Zone unit launched a drive in the Garitana area under Khagrachhari district’s Manikchhari area around 6am. During the raid, Ismail Hossain was arrested with two LGs and five cartridges.

Based on the information provided by Ismail, the army team launched another raid in the Shantinagar area. Noticing the presence of army personnel, Kangchai Marma opened fire on the team.

While attempting to escape, he jumped from a three-storey building and received serious injuries. The army team took Kangchai to a nearby hospital, but the on-duty doctor declared him dead-on-arrival. An autopsy will be performed on his body, read the ISPR release.

A 9mm pistol, 5 LGs, 21 cartridges and 18 pistol bullets have been recovered from the scene.

According to the statement, Kangchai was involved in terrorist activities and kidnappings in the Khagrachhari area for years. The Bangladesh Army is committed to maintaining peace and security in the hilly region, and regular drives will continue to counter terrorism.
