The assault complaint filed against Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed by his childhood friend Sifatur Rahman Saurav has been withdrawn following mediation between their families.

The incident, which surfaced on social media a few days ago, alleged that Taskin had physically assaulted and threatened Saurav. A general diary (GD) entry was filed at Mirpur Model Police Station, prompting an investigation. Taskin swiftly denied the accusations in a Facebook post, calling the claims “false and baseless” and urging fans not to be misled.

Speaking to the media on 30 July, Saurav confirmed the matter had been resolved through a written agreement between the two families.

“The issue started from a misunderstanding among friends. If our families had sat down earlier, this could have been avoided. Now that we’ve talked and agreed in writing, I’ve officially withdrawn the complaint.”

Despite the resolution, Saurav admitted that the relationship between the two has changed:

“He’s been my friend since childhood and has a lot to offer Bangladesh cricket. I wish him well. But personally, I’m traumatised. I need time to recover.”

Taskin has yet to make a new public statement since the withdrawal of the GD.
