Bangladesh national team pacer Taskin Ahmed has once again denied allegations that he assaulted and threatened his childhood friend, Sifatur Rahman Sourav, stating that the “reality is different” from what is being circulated. The incident allegedly took place on Sunday night in Mirpur-1, with Sourav filing a general diary (GD) at the Mirpur Model Police Station.
As reports of the incident began to gain traction in the media and on social platforms, Taskin responded on Monday via a post on his official and verified Facebook page, calling the accusation “false and fabricated.” He also revealed that he had spoken to Sourav directly about the matter.

In the post, published at 5:11 PM, Taskin wrote:
“I request everyone not to be misled by rumours. A lot is being said about me allegedly raising my hand on a childhood friend. I believe people should not believe in such rumours or spread them. It is not honourable for me, my family, or my friend. My friend and I have spoken about what happened. The situation should never have reached this stage. I just want to say — the matter is different, and the reality is not what it seems. The accusation is false, fabricated, and motivated. I hope you stay with the truth — the truth never becomes false.”
Earlier, in remarks to local media, Taskin said he had been busy moving house and insisted that the allegations were baseless. “The accusation made against me is completely false,” he stated. “I’ve been busy relocating. I didn’t hit anyone. They’ve filed a fake GD in an attempt to cause me embarrassment.”
Taskin has also claimed that the complaint is retaliatory. According to him, the issue stemmed from a separate altercation involving a mutual friend named Rosi, who was allegedly assaulted. Taskin said he contacted the Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur Police Station to report that incident. In response, police searched for the individuals involved — a move Taskin believes led to the GD being filed against him.
The situation has drawn significant media attention, with speculation and commentary circulating widely. As tensions ease between the two childhood friends, Taskin has appealed for calm, urging the public not to rush to judgment based on unverified reports. The matter is currently being reviewed by law enforcement, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
