Ruling party Chief Whip in Parliament, Nurul Islam Moni, has said Tarique Rahman has stopped divorces through the implementation of Family Cards.

He made the statement while speaking as chief guest at a law and order meeting held in Barguna Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Saturday.

Moni explained that previously people divorced over minor issues, but under the current system, getting a divorce means forfeiting the Family Card, which has effectively brought an end to the practice.

Regarding the deployment of snipers during the July movement, he asserted that Sheikh Hasina brought in snipers to kill the people of the country and did precisely that.

Citing fuel price increases as an example, Moni pointed out that while 85 countries worldwide simultaneously raised fuel prices, Tarique Rahman did not hike them.

He informed that Tarique Rahman has already repaid $2.05 billion of the debt left behind by Sheikh Hasina.

He added that a section of people attempted to create an artificial fuel crisis to push the government into trouble, but their efforts failed.

Following the meeting, Chief Whip Moni inaugurated canal excavation in the DC Park area of Barguna and subsequently inspected Barguna General Hospital.
