Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has hailed the country’s back-to-back T20I series wins and expressed particular admiration for the six-hitting abilities of young openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hossain Emon.
Having recently defeated Sri Lanka 2–1 away, Bangladesh followed it up with a hard-fought series win over Pakistan, clinching the second T20I in Mirpur despite posting just 133 runs. Pakistan fell short by eight runs, bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs.
The former opener was especially impressed by the aggressive strokeplay of Tanzid and Emon, who have stepped up following his retirement from international cricket.
“Their sixes looked absolutely fantastic,” he said. “They’re very capable batsmen, and I hope they find success in every format.”
While Tanzid managed just one run in the first match and was rested for the second, Emon starred with an unbeaten 56 off 39 balls in the opener before scoring 13 in the next. Their contributions, according to Tamim, are signs of Bangladesh’s growing bench strength.
Reflecting on the twin series triumphs, Tamim added:
“Winning in Sri Lanka was a huge achievement. Beating Pakistan right after, even bigger. These are strong teams, and back-to-back series wins will go a long way for the team’s belief.”
