In a bid to enhance the security of the Mobile Financial Services (MFS) sector and combat its misuse in criminal activities, bKash has been conducting a series of training workshops nationwide. These sessions, aimed at training investigating officers from various law enforcement agencies, have so far trained approximately 4,500 officers.
The most recent workshop, titled “Investigation and Prevention of Misuse of Mobile Financial Services,” was held for 50 investigating officers from the Sylhet Range Police at a city hotel. Md. Mushfequr Rahman, the DIG of Sylhet Range Police, attended as the chief guest, with other notable guests including former Additional IGP of Bangladesh Police and Advisor to bKash Dr. Md. Nazibur Rahman, and EVP & HoD, External Affairs of bKash Major A. K. M. Monirul Karim (retd).
The workshop focused on how investigators can use advanced technology to track stolen funds, monitor digital transactions to prevent criminal activities like kidnapping, and enhance communication with bKash officials for efficient investigations. The session also discussed immediate actions that can be taken when criminal incidents occur involving mobile financial services.
Over the past three months, similar workshops have been conducted in districts including Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Satkhira, Sunamganj, and Sylhet, as part of a nationwide initiative. This training program, which began in 2017, continues to support law enforcement efforts in tackling misuse of mobile financial services. A total of 400 officers participated in the recent sessions across the seven districts.
Through these workshops, bKash is reinforcing its commitment to ensuring the safe and responsible use of mobile financial services while equipping law enforcement officers with the necessary tools to address potential misuse and safeguard the interests of consumers.
