Visa has appointed Suresh Sethi as Group Country Manager for India, Bangladesh and South Asia, putting him in charge of strategy and operations across six markets.
He will oversee operations in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan, the company said in a press release.
Based in Mumbai, Sethi will report to Visa Regional President Asia Pacific Stephen Karpin.
He succeeds Sandeep Ghosh, who is leaving the company, as Visa looks to strengthen its presence in one of its fastest-growing regions.

“India and South Asia continue to be among Visa’s most dynamic and strategically important markets. Suresh brings expertise and knowledge that will accelerate Visa’s aspiration to be the best way to pay and be paid,” he said.
He added that Sethi would build on the company’s strong foundation alongside clients, partners, and policymakers.
Karpin also thanked Sandeep Ghosh for his leadership over the past four years and for ensuring a smooth transition.

Sethi has held senior leadership roles across the financial sector in India and international markets, including Africa, Latin America, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Most recently, he served as Managing Director (MD) and CEO Protean e-Gov Technologies Ltd, where he led its transformation into a digital public infrastructure institution.
He previously founded and led India Post Payments Bank, building one of the largest financial inclusion models through doorstep banking services.
Earlier, he held senior roles as MD and CEO of Vodafone M-Pesa India, Group President at YES Bank, and in regional leadership positions at Citigroup, focusing on transaction banking and payments.
