Stormy winds, rain likely in Dhaka, several districts

Met office has forecast temporary gusty or squally winds with speeds ranging from 45 to 60 kilometres per hour over Dhaka and several other districts by Tuesday afternoon.

In a special bulletin for inland river ports, issued for the period up to 1:00 pm Tuesday, the Met Office warned that strong winds from the south or southeast may sweep over Rajshahi, Pabna, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar. These areas are also likely to experience rain or thundershowers.

As a result, river ports in these regions have been advised to hoist cautionary signal No 1.

In a separate forecast, the weather office said that by Tuesday evening, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur in most areas of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, and at many places in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Moderate to heavy or even very heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places in Khulna and Rajshahi divisions.

The Met Office further noted that due to this rainfall, both daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country may fall slightly.
