Following the conclusion of the two-match Test series, Sri Lanka will take on Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series. Marking their return to the format for the first time since February this year, Sri Lanka will begin the ODI leg against Bangladesh on July 2. On Friday, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming series.
From the Test squad, several players have been retained—Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Kamindu Mendis, Dunith Wellalage, and Asitha Fernando. The ODI side will be led by Charith Asalanka, with Test captain Dhananjaya de Silva left out of the squad. Mohammad Siraj (who had played as a guest player), Lahiru Kumara, Matheesha Pathirana, and Nuwanidu Fernando have all been dropped from the previous ODI squad.
Sadeera Samarawickrama returns to the side, while Milan Rathnayake has earned his maiden ODI call-up. The squad also includes white-ball regulars like Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana.
The first two ODIs will be held at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium on July 2 and 5, while the final ODI is scheduled for July 8 in Pallekele.
