Spotify has started rolling out a major update for its platform, this time focusing on free-tier users. The company announced the changes via a Newsroom post.
The update improves the popular Discover Weekly playlist for free users, offering a fresh mix of songs every Monday. Spotify says the more users listen, the better the recommendations will become.
A new feature called “daylist” also adapts to users’ listening habits at different times of the day. Users can save their favourite daylist by scrolling down and selecting “add to playlist > new playlist.”
Free users can enjoy other playlists too, including personalised lists, curated editor picks, and playlists they create themselves. Android and iOS users can now make their own playlist cover art by tapping the three-dot menu and selecting “create cover art,” choosing from images, text effects, and graphics.
The update also makes playing and searching for music easier. Any song can be played instantly, saved to “Liked” songs, or added to a playlist.
Sharing has also been improved. Songs and even lyrics can now be shared directly from the app to platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. Users can swipe up in the Now Playing screen to see lyrics and share their favourite lines.
Spotify says these updates for free users will continue to roll out throughout the week.
