Bangladesh batsman Soumya Sarkar has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming tour of Pakistan after sustaining a back injury.

The 31-year-old left-hander has been suffering from pain on the right side of his lower back over the past week. Following medical assessments, National Team Physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed that Sarkar will require a rehabilitation period of approximately 10 to 12 days.

“This effectively rules him out of next week’s three-match series in Pakistan,” said Khan.

In his absence, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named Mehidy Hasan Miraz as a replacement. The 27-year-old all-rounder, who has already featured in 29 T20 Internationals, is currently in Pakistan representing the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Miraz is expected to link up with the national side in Lahore following the conclusion of his PSL commitments.
