Singer Mainul Ahsan Noble has been detained by police for allegedly assaulting an Uber driver while under the influence of alcohol in Dhaka. The incident took place late Saturday night in the Kallyanpur area.
Police from Mirpur Model Police Station confirmed that Noble was taken in for questioning following the altercation. Officer-in-Charge Sajjad Roman confirmed his detention.
According to eyewitnesses, the singer, who was reportedly drunk at the time, got into a scuffle with the Uber driver.
Uber driver Akbar Hossain told police that Noble had hired a private car via the Uber app and travelled to the Habuler Pukurpar area with his wife, Salsabil Mahmud. Upon reaching the destination, Noble refused to leave the vehicle and began speaking incoherently, hurling abuse at the driver.
As the argument escalated, Noble allegedly assaulted Akbar Hossain. The commotion drew the attention of bystanders, who reportedly confronted Noble over his behaviour.
Police from Mirpur Police Station later arrived at the scene and detained Noble along with the hired vehicle and its driver.
Due to Uber driver Akbar Hossain refusing to press charges against the singer, both were released from custody. Acting OC Sazzad Roman confirmed the matter, citing no pending charges against either.
Noble has previously been in the spotlight for various controversial incidents, some of which have led to jail time.
