Siam Ahmed first made his name on the small screen, but it was Raihan Rafi’s ‘Poramon 2’ that catapulted him to overnight stardom. The actor-director duo went on to collaborate on films such as ‘Dahan’ and ‘Damal’.
When Rafi began working with Afran Nisho and Shakib Khan for the action-packed ‘Tandob’, many assumed the partnership had run its course but the rumours can be put to rest. The two are set to reunite for a new project.
Siam has signed on to star in ‘Andhar’, directed by Raihan. The full cast will be announced soon. Initially rumoured to be titled ‘Seyana’, the horror film will be produced by Shakib Chowdhury, alongside Sarah Ali and Adnan Adib Khan.
Veteran musicians Saidus Salehin Suman and Shakib Chowdhury — better known as the frontmen of the bands Arthahin and Cryptic Fate — have long had a fascination with ghost stories. They have travelled across the country in search of supernatural tales, sharing them on their radio show ‘Bhoutist’. The film will bring some of these stories to the screen.
Executive producer Sabbir Ahmed Sohag has promised that Andhar will be made on “the biggest budget in our industry” — though he has kept the exact figure under wraps.
Originally, Rafi had planned to cast Afran Nisho, but a ligament injury has sidelined the actor for now, prompting the director to bring in Siam. Chanchal Chowdhury may also appear in the film.
In addition, Siam is preparing for another project, to be directed by Barbad filmmaker Mehedi Hasan Hridoy and slated for release next Eid.
Details on Andhar’s shooting schedule are yet to be confirmed.
