The Ministry of Public Administration has issued a notification placing Shariatpur’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ashraf Uddin on the Officers on Special Duty (OSD) list.
This comes in the wake of a a video clip of the deputy commissioner going viral on social media that has sparked widespread discussion and criticism.
The 57-second video shows DC Ashraf Uddin in an intimate moment with a woman. The video was posted by expatriate journalist Jawad Nirjhar on social media on Friday.
The woman involved in the video alleged to the media that Ashraf had built a relationship with her by promising to marry her, which resulted in the breakdown of her previous marriage. She said, instead of keeping his promise, the DC was threatening to kill her. He has even physically assaulted her, she alleged.
According to the district administration, Ashraf joined as the DC of Shariatpur on November 3 last year and is an officer of the 27th BCS administration cadre.
