Bangladesh continued to claw their way back in the 1st Test against Zimbabwe in Sylhet on a rain-curtailed day, where they ended on 194-4 after 57 overs and a lead of 112 runs on Tuesday.
Having an overnight score of 57-1, the two batters Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mominul Haque had to wait due to a wet outfield from an early morning downpour.
That led to the first session being washed out completely, and when play did resume, Mahmudul and Mominul started to forge a partnership as the first innings deficit of 82 runs was quickly whittled out.
But Blessing Muzarabani had other ideas, and he scalped the wicket of Joy, who scored 33, with Bangladesh at 73-2, still trailing by nine runs.
From there, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto joined the party and batted with a lot of gusto as he took the attack to the Zimbabwe bowlers.
Shanto and Mominul would go on to take the score past 100 in a partnership of 65, just one run short of their partnership from the first innings.
Mominul was the next to depart as he fell victim to Victor Nyauchi after scoring 47 from 84 balls.
The hosts then found themselves in a position of trouble when Mushfiqur Rahim departed after scoring just four runs as Bangladesh were pegged back to 155-4.
However, Jaker Ali came in and joined his captain as they took the score to 194-4 in 57 overs before bad light ended play.
Shanto was not out on 60 with Jaker on 21, while for the visitors, Muzarabani was the pick of the bowlers with 3-51.
