Shammo laid to rest in Sirajganj

Shahriar Alam Shammo, a Dhaka University student who was brutally stabbed to death near the campus, was buried Wednesday night at his ancestral village of Saratail in Belkuchi Upazila, Sirajganj.

The 25-year-old student activist was laid to rest in the Jannatul Baki graveyard, reports BSS.

Shammo was a student at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) and publicity secretary at a university unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. He was attacked in the Suhrawardy Udyan area on Tuesday night.

People gathered at the Hafiziya Madrasa ground in Sirajganj for Shammo’s namaz-e-janaza, where leaders from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its student wing, Jatiya Chhatra Dal, joined the grieving family.
