Shakib Khan has officially announced the title of his upcoming film, directed by advertising filmmaker Shakib Fahad. The project, long kept under wraps, has been titled ‘Soldier’.
Filming is slated to begin in September, with a simultaneous release in Bangladesh and abroad eyeing December, according to production sources.
The film will mark the big-screen debut of popular television actress Tanjin Tisha, long rumoured to be moving into cinema. Alongside her, two other actresses are expected to feature opposite Shakib. Currently in the US, the star is set to begin work on Soldier upon his return.
Speculation has circulated that the film will draw inspiration from the killing of Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, in July 2020. While Shakib will not directly portray the army officer, his character will be a former elite intelligence agent, depicted carrying out a series of high-stakes operations for the country.
The story will blend real events with dramatic elements, exploring aspects of his professional life, the political climate and featuring intense action sequences. The film also aims to highlight the role and contributions of Bangladesh’s intelligence services.
All necessary government clearances have already been secured for the project, which will also involve Bollywood and South Indian technical crews.
Director Shakib Fahad has described the film as “a powerful story filled with patriotism, action and human emotion”, adding that while based on true events, dramatic elements will be woven into the narrative.
