In a career spanning two decades, Shajal Noor has showcased his versatility across ramps, TV dramas, web films, series and cinema. Though not one to chase trends or headlines, the actor has quietly rediscovered himself in recent years and is now a regular face on the big screen.

Following the release of ‘Jinn 3’ last Eid-ul-Fitr, Shajal has been signing on to multiple projects. His latest is Dhoka, directed by Kamruzzaman Roman. The director confirmed the news to TIMES of Bangladesh on Saturday, revealing that Abdullah Zahir Babu is writing the screenplay while Asad Zaman is penning the dialogues. Shooting is scheduled to begin this December.

“I have a very good relationship with Shajal Bhai,” Roman said. “He has acted in several of my films before. He’s a great actor and when I started planning Dhoka, he was my first choice.”

For now, the director is keeping the story under wraps, sharing only that it will revolve around a love triangle. Casting for other roles has not yet been finalized.

Shajal himself remained tight-lipped, saying only, “Talks are going on about the film. Different kinds of stories are coming my way and I’m excited to take on new challenges. The audience will see me in a different light. But since so many projects in our industry get delayed despite planning, I’d rather speak in detail when the time is right.”

Early in his film career, Shajal often worked outside commercial cinema. But after Jinn 3, he has embraced the role of a mainstream hero, even taking on the challenge of building a deeper, more commanding on-screen presence.

“In recent dance and song driven films, audiences talk about the hero. That’s why I’ve had to push myself to learn dancing, action and acting techniques for cinema,” he shared.

Shajal recently wrapped shooting for ‘Shapla Shaluk’, directed by Rasheda Akhtar and filmed across scenic locations near Nalitabari in Sherpur. Opposite him in the film is Bubli. Several more projects are also in the pipeline.
