Seven more individuals injured during the July uprising have been sent to Thailand for advanced medical treatment. They departed at 11:00 a.m. (Tuesday) on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
The seven injured are Md. Ashraful Alam, Md. Rakib Ul Islam, Md. Russel Hossain, Md. Tarun, Md. Sagar, Mehedi Hasan Khokon, and Abdul Jabbar, said a press release from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, personal officer to Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum told media that an additional 20 injured individuals will be sent abroad for treatment in the coming days.
According to the release, the seven patients were previously receiving treatment at various facilities: one at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, one at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, three at the National Institute of Neurosciences, and two at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH). Several of them still have bullets lodged in their bodies, some are paralyzed, and all have lost the ability to move normally.
With this latest group, a total of 47 injured individuals from the July uprising have now been sent abroad for medical care. Many of them have already returned home following successful treatment.
