Seven colleges finally separated from DU

Dhaka University (DU) has formally transferred all administrative, academic and financial responsibilities of its seven affiliated government colleges to the proposed Dhaka Central University (DCU) authorities. It also included information, photographs and admission test fees for 2024–25 academic year applicants.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan handed over the responsibilities and data to the proposed university’s interim administrator, Prof AKM Elias, at a ceremony in the VC’s office on Thursday.

This marks the final step in the formal separation of the seven government colleges from DU.

Prof Khan expressed gratitude to all involved in the separation process and wished overall success for the new university.

The handover ceremony was attended by DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Abdus Salam, Proctor Associate Prof Saifuddin Ahmed, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmed, convenor of the Online Admission Committee, officials of relevant departments and principals of the colleges.
