Four years after announcing ‘Jee Le Zaara’, Farhan Akhtar has finally offered a fresh dose of optimism about the long-delayed road-trip drama starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. The film, first revealed in 2021 and originally set to begin shooting in 2023, has faced repeated postponements due to scheduling conflicts, sparking speculation that it had been shelved.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Farhan admitted that aligning the diaries of its three leads had been very difficult, but confirmed that the issues have now been resolved. “We will start soon,” he said, adding that he had turned down several projects over the past two years to stay focused on directing the film.
Rumours had circulated in Indian media that Priyanka and Alia had stepped away from the project after becoming mothers, but Farhan dismissed the reports, stating that all three stars remain attached.
The idea for Jee Le Zaara originated with Priyanka during a rainy evening in Mumbai in 2019, when she reportedly phoned Alia and Katrina to discuss creating a female-led friendship story, a genre still rare in mainstream Bollywood.
Farhan, whose last release ‘120 Bahadur’ underperformed at the box office, said he is relieved the film is finally moving forward after years of uncertainty.
