Senxin BD Co. Ltd., a Chinese company, is investing $10.81 million to establish a manufacturing facility in Mongla Export Processing Zone (Mongla EPZ), focusing on the production of LED bulbs and packing materials. The project will diversify the EPZ’s product base and strengthen its competitiveness in the global market.
Senxin BD’s new factory will produce a wide range of LED lighting products, including LED bulbs, street lights, spotlights, panel lights, solar street lights, explosion-proof LED lamps, and flood lights. It will also manufacture packing materials such as cartons and poly bags. The project is expected to create 717 local jobs, benefiting the community and boosting industrial output, according to BEPZA.
The agreement was signed on Thursday at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka between BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Ashraful Kabir and Senxin BD Chairman Wu Changqin. Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, Executive Chairman of BEPZA, witnessed the signing ceremony.
During the ceremony, Major General Ziaur Rahman commented on the significance of the investment: “While the readymade garment sector remains a cornerstone of our economy, we are focusing on attracting diversified industries. Senxin BD’s investment reflects growing investor confidence in our EPZs, and we will provide all the necessary support for the successful operation of this project.”
The signing ceremony was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including BEPZA Executive Director (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Tanvir Hossain, and Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Khorshid Alam.
