Security has been strengthened at the akhra of mystic poet and social reformer Fakir Lalon Shah in Cheuria, Kumarkhali Upazila, Kushtia.
Following an attack at a mazar in Rajbari on Friday, police were deployed on Saturday morning at the main gate of Lalon Akhra. Authorities said the move is part of broader security measures across the district in response to the Rajbari incident and other concerns.
In the afternoon, a team visiting the site spoke with Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Alam Hossain near the Golghar inside the gate. He said, “An incident occurred at a mazar in Rajbari. As a precaution, we have been deployed here. From now on, police will remain on duty in shifts, 24 hours a day, to ensure the security of the mazar.”
Kushtia Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Mizanur Rahman confirmed the heightened security at Lalon Akhra, citing specific precautionary reasons.
