West Indies kept their three-match ODI series alive with a five-wicket victory over Pakistan in a rain-hit contest at the Brian Lara Stadium, winning via the DLS method.

The result saw the hosts draw level at 1-1 after losing the opening match at the same venue.

Shai Hope won the toss and chose to field, a decision that quickly paid off. Jayden Seales removed Saim Ayub for 23 from 31 balls before dismissing Pakistan captain Babar Azam for a three-ball duck later in the same over. Abdullah Shafique (26 off 40) and Mohammad Rizwan (16 off 38) tried to steady the innings, but both fell before the rain interruptions began to take their toll.

The first delay came after the 16th over, but no overs were lost. However, rain returned during the 34th over, prompting the umpires to reduce the match to 40 overs per side. Play resumed briefly before another downpour after the 37th over ended Pakistan’s innings at 171 for 7. Hasan Nawaz top-scored with an unbeaten 36 from 30 deliveries, while Seales impressed with figures of 3 for 23 from seven overs.

Set a revised target of 181 from 35 overs, West Indies endured early trouble as Hasan Ali struck twice in his opening spell, removing both openers inside four overs. Keacy Carty and Hope put on 36 from 57 balls before Carty was dismissed by Abrar Ahmed. Surprisingly, Ali bowled just three overs despite his strong start.

Sherfane Rutherford injected momentum, attacking from the outset alongside Hope in a brisk 54-run stand from only 40 balls. Hope fell for 32 from 35 deliveries, and Rutherford followed soon after for a lively 45 from 33.

It was then left to Roston Chase and Justin Greaves to see the job through. The pair shared an unbroken 77-run partnership from 72 balls, with Chase finishing unbeaten on 49 off 47 and Greaves contributing 26 from 31, guiding the hosts to victory with 10 balls to spare.
