Abidul Islam, vice-president candidate backed by Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal for the upcoming DUCSU election, has urged political leaders to engage in politics openly instead of resorting to behind-the-scenes propagandas.
Talking to journalists after Friday’s prayers at Shahidullah Hall on the Dhaka University campus, he said, “Don’t follow others, engage in open politics, and face your opponents politically.”
He further said that their panel stands distinct from others, stating, “We have been elected through internal votes within our party’s central leadership and university leaders. Only after that did we decide to participate in the DUCSU elections.”
Abidul also accused certain groups of spreading misinformation, saying, “Misinformation and disinformation are being spread within university groups. The administration should take immediate action on this matter.”
Reflecting on past struggles, he mentioned, “On 15-16 July 2024, resistance against Chhatra League’s terrorist activities began at Shahidullah Hall. We have come here today to offer our prayers, remembering that significant history.”
