Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has strongly condemned Israel’s recent missile strikes on Iran, describing them as a breach of international law and a threat to regional stability.
In a phone call on Saturday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the crown prince said the attacks undermined Iran’s sovereignty and violated international norms, according to media reports.
Iran’s IRNA news agency and Saudi Arab’s Saudi News Agency reported that Salman warned that the Israeli assault, which Tehran claims killed 78 people, including high-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists, had jeopardised ongoing diplomatic efforts to address Iran’s nuclear program and de-escalate tensions in the region.
He reiterated the Kingdom’s firm stance against the use of force to resolve conflicts and stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving international disputes.
The crown prince also offered condolences to President Pezeshkian and the Iranian people, expressing sympathy to the families of those killed and wishing the injured a swift recovery.
In response, Iranian President expressed gratitude to Salman for the care provided to Iranian pilgrims and the facilitation of their return from Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi leader has also held separate calls with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the fallout from the Israeli strikes.
Both conversations focused on the urgent need for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic engagement to address the escalating crisis.
